Betty Lorraine Erickson, age 93, passed away peacefully April 29, 2021 in Lone Pine, California. She was born March 5, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Henrietta Beetsma. In 1948, she crossed into Kansas and married her friend and love, James Clancy Erickson. While living in Chicago, Betty worked for the Telephone Company until she contracted Rheumatic Fever. From that point on she switched gears to become a fulltime dedicated homemaker and loving mother to their two children, James Jr. and Shelley. Betty enjoyed her dogs, she always had a dog by her side, gardening, and being out in nature. She really loved the mountains. In fact, some thirty-five years ago, she and her husband took a trip out to California to spend time with James’ nephew Terry Erickson and she fell in love with the majestic landscape of Lone Pine. They bought land, and with the help of Terry, they built their log cabin and future home that they have remained in ever since. Betty is survived by her loving husband James Erickson; her son James Erickson Jr.; her daughter and son-in-law Shelley Esparza (Chuck); 3 grandchildren, PJ Schickel, Heather (Joe O’Conner) and Vanessa (Aaron Lloyd); and eight greatgrandchildren, Shannon, Cecelia, Liam and Owen Schickel, Rylee, Kevin and Shannon O’Conner and Antonia Lloyd. Most of all she loved her family. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Please join us celebrating her life Saturday morning May 22, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Whitney Cemetery; 1200 HWY 395, Lone Pine, California, where she will rest peacefully among the mountains, she fell in love with so long ago.
